An independent journal of discovery

Remarkable minds.
Extraordinary stories.

Vanguard Chronicles follows human curiosity through history: the people, objects, events and ideas that opened new ways of seeing the world.

The story begins with a clue

A beautiful object.
A larger story.

A brass microscope can lead to a collaboration between a maker and a physicist. A chronometer can open a story about the ocean, ambition and the problem of longitude. A botanical plate can reveal an artist’s way of looking at nature.

We begin with historical discoveries, expeditions, scientific instruments, ingenious makers and curious lives. The objects remain tangible anchors: named, photographed and placed in their proper context. The story follows the people, circumstances and questions around them.

Remarkable minds. Extraordinary objects.
Stories worth discovering.

Our first chapter centres on the historical world around 1750–1920, with earlier and later stories where they belong. In time, the same curiosity may take us into philosophy, modern science and questions about our future. Every mystery deserves evidence; every uncertainty should remain visible.
